Exceptionally Pure: Our 12,000 year-old iceberg ice comes from an era that predates pollutants, and is naturally free of common tap water contaminants and additives such as chlorine and fluoride. Ever-Frozen: Each summer we harvest our iceberg ice and preserve its frozen state until it reaches your glass. We guarantee that our ice products have never been melted or refrozen. Enduring Lifespan: We hand carve our iceberg products into long-lasting shapes that suit a range of beverages and provide the slowest dilution of your drink.  Exquisite Beauty: Each piece of iceberg ice is entirely unique, just like the individual snowflakes that have formed it over millennia.

Iceberg ice is composed of perhaps the purest and most pristine water on Earth and is completely safe to drink.

We follow the guidelines of the Canada Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Our hazard analysis and preventive control measures are part of an internationally utilized approach to prevent or mitigate hazards associated with food products. They are based on the Codex Alimentarius Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) process. These procedures and others are required by our provincial, federal, and international licensing agencies with whom we are in good standing. Hazard analysis is a five-part process the first of which identifies potential food safety hazards (biological, chemical and physical). While iceberg ice is among the purest and cleanest water on Earth, our responsibility under Canada’s food and drug regulations for pre-packaged water and ice (Division 12) is to test for the presence of microbial pathogens. We are required to preform this analysis by way of the Canadian Official Method MFO-15 for aerobic colony counts. This process requires pour plating with plate count agar (PCA) tempered to 40–45°C and incubating 48 h at 35°C by a licensed laboratory. We conduct this raw material analysis on a batch basis, ensuring every piece of iceberg ice is 100% safe. Additionally, as part of our preventative control plan our facility uses Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) as a sterilization technique on every piece of ice we cut. Ultra violet wavelength light kills or inactivates microorganisms, including coliform bacteria. By these means we provide our customers the purest drinking ice on Earth.

No. Our operations are more akin to a small farm: Producing a perishable product on a limited scale via a seasonal harvest. We use small watercraft to conduct the spring forage, and the ice is stored and handcrafted in an energy-efficient facility in the immediate vicinity of the harvest.

Our harvest causes no harm to the local ecosystem and recovers an amazing natural freshwater resource that would otherwise be lost to the saline sea.

No. We only harvest from icebergs that have drifted into the temperate waters of Newfoundland. These icebergs are now thousands of miles from their source and are destined to completely melt within weeks.

No. We only harvest icebergs that are relatively small, and offer no meaningful habitat or shelter for mammals, birds, or fish.

Being carbon negative means that a company removes more carbon from the atmosphere than it emits each year. We have gone far beyond this commitment, removing two times our total annual carbon emissions. With every purchase of Epoch Iceberg Ice you are directly supporting important CO2 reduction projects.

From day one, our goal has been to have maximum positive impact on the environment. By drawing awareness to the climate crisis and carbon economy, and by directly supporting the net removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, Epoch is a leading voice for change in the business community.

While there are many self-assessment tools available, we have decided that the best way to ensure an accurate and comprehensive calculation of our annual carbon emissions is to employ experts in the field. We retain the services of GreenStep, who calculate our footprint based upon global recognized standards of assessment.

Once GreenStep's team has provided us with our annual carbon emissions, we multiply that figure by 2 and purchase high-value carbon credits to compensate for our footprint twice-over.

We purchase high-yield carbon credits through Terrapass, selecting from their inventory of quality projects that make measurable environmental and social gains across the globe.
